Figure out friday is when the teacher gives us challenges to help build different skills than math , reading , writing , etc. We have only done it once so far but I will tell you about it. The first skill we learned was creativity. What we did was Mrs. Banks gave us a bag of stuff and put the problem on the board. The problem was in the rainforest you got seperated from your group. Create a device to catch their attension. Here are a couple of things people did flags , banners and slingshots. That is what figure out friday is .:)
On the 18th we had an awesome french class! We went outside to have a snow animal building contest. But because they didn't do it last year, the grade fours got to build a snowman. In my group it was Abby, Fedhra, Carter and me. We were building a snow cat. I brought a carrot nose (just to make it funny), and a pair of flip flops. Abby brought some sunglasses. Fedhra brought some cat ears and Carter brought a banana for the mouth. In the end the grade fours won the contest. They built a soccer snowman. Some of the other creations include a fox and a rainbow, hamster/guinea pig thing. The hamster had a friend penguin named Pengweenie. Then after the winners were announced , we went in for hot chocolate. It was an amazing french class!
Hi today I'm writing about french class I love french class.
Last year in grade 4 there were these green small papers called cart vert, me and Jack used to get them all the time because of how good we were in french. There meant for whoever speaks the most french in class (there an upgraded version of a billet ).
Me and my friends Jack and Cameron were one of the best people in french. We always get billets cart vert. But now there is no cart vert it's a gotcha. They're meant for doing something good. And french is important because its teaching you a international language that you could use later. I love FRENCH!!!!!

On most school days in our class , we do math centers but instead of math centers some days we do an activity called S.T.E.A.M. (science , technology , engineering , arts and mathematics ) . One of the best parts about steam is that Mrs . Banks lets us choose our groups as long as were not to loud so my group is normally ( well always ) Justin , Carter and Ghanan . Last time we had steam I made a really cool breath powered chimney . Well , originally it was supposed to be a really cool iron man glove but when I put it on , then I realized that it wouldn't fit so I let Ghanan try it on for size and it fit perfectly but it didn't look exactly as classy iron mans or as colorful . Today is December 9th and we have S.T.E.A.M. so I wonder what were going to create next !!!
In gym class today we were playing a game that could help us improve our volleyball skills, but before that for our warm up we played Everybody's It Tag. Everybody's It Tag is when everybody is it and you try to tag as many people as you can while trying not to get tagged. If you get tagged everybody you got stands up and gets to keep playing while you sit down and wait for whoever tagged you to get tagged. The game that helped us improve our volleyball skills is when there are four people on a team and one person on your team YEETS the volleyball over to the other side of the net and someone has to catch it, but if they don't your team gets a point. If the other team does catch the ball they pass the ball to a different team mate on their team three times then they YEET the ball over to our side. We lost though. It was still fun.
Last Monday we went to the pottery lab in Halifax. The teacher was a good teacher her name was Mrs. Sullivan. She was very specific. She first taught us how to make two parts of the clay to stay together like you want it. Here are the steps she taught us:
1. Scratch were you want it to go.
2. Put gicky stuff on the scratched spot.
3. Put it to together.
4. Your creation is finished.
I made 2 creations my mom made 1 creation. My mom was also a chaperone. The class made about 67 creations in total.
Every Monday we do journals. One person does a student blog and a few people have already done the blog. When there is 15 or 20 minutes left of journals we get in a circle and we share. First we share with someone beside us and we share what we wrote that day. After when most people have shared we share with the whole class. When a person is done reading they ask anyone for a complement. Then after school the teacher reads our writing and gives us a good complement and something we have to work on. Next writing class we read our good complement and the thing that we need to work on. She always tries to give us a thing that we need to work on but sometimes she can't, but she tries to.
On Friday we had book buddies with grade 1 Conrod/Negus. We were making portraits of each other because it was picture day. The little buddies got to take home our portraits of them and we got to take home the little buddies portrait of us. Like always when we finished we got to read with our buddies. The week before we made word searches for our little buddies. In the word searches we put in words that were from our interviews we did with them on the first book buddy day. Our buddies loved the word searches we made for them! When our school did the Terry Fox walk we walked with our book buddies. Doing book buddies is so much fun!
Hello! One of my favorite things about Mrs. Banks class is one of the things we do at the end of the day. It's math centers! As a matter a fact we actually got two new ones last time! They're called Qwirkle and Seven Flipped. I haven't played them yet but i'm hoping to soon. Anyway one of my favorite ones is Pin Point! This one I can explain. So this one is a spot the difference game. You need to look at a card and it will look like they're the same but they're not. They're are tiny differences. And you need to be the first one in your group to find the one that's not different from all the others. And that's all I have to say about math centers!
Today our class went to gym right before recess. We were playing a type of capture the flag but with a lot of flags. There were around 13 flags for each team, there were two teams the pennies team and the shirts team. How the game works: there are two sides each side was trying to get to the other side and get a flag which were bean bags without getting tagged. When we got there we were safe and we had to put it on top of our heads and we got a free pass to the other side. But if it fell we had to sit were we were and if we got tagged we sit down. To get back up somebody from their team had to free them. Most of our classmates where playing fairly, some where not but everyone was having fun. The pennies won both the games and everyone had a fantastic gym class.
